RAINS OF FIRE: A PAINTING BY MIKOS AT MIKOS ARTS
I’m often asked where my ideas come from that are the bases of my work. Many times I have no idea to be honest as they show up like a mysterious wind to my creative sails. Other times I start with ideas and images that connect with me and my creative process. In the beginning it might just be a very subtle element I wrote about or quickly sketched down. The idea will evolve from that point and as the connection slowly builds which is the force to keep going further to continue building up the idea that eventually becomes the artwork.
Every advancement in each layer of my work are the slow building blocks, then standing back and observing to see what more is needed, then more advancement. Eventually the artwork comes through revealing itself outside of the process and takes on a life of its own. That has to be one of the most magical parts of the process; when I stare at the work and wonder how it went from the initial idea to what stands before me. To this day Im still marveled by the surprises I encounter as the artwork grows through the stages of creation. I always hope that the art speaks to others as well, and they find their own meaningful connection too. -Mikos
